Account & Authentication

Creating an account, logging in, passwords, two-factor authentication, sessions, and account deletion.

Click Login from the homepage or the profile icon in the navbar, then choose Create one and fill in the form with the following:
  1. 1Choose a Username — the platform checks availability in real time as you type.
  2. 2Enter your Email address.
  3. 3Choose a password that satisfies all 4 criteria shown: at least 8 characters, one uppercase letter (A–Z), one digit (0–9), and one special character (!@#$… etc.).
  4. 4Confirm your password in the second field.
  5. 5Click Create account.
A verification email will be sent to you. Your account becomes fully active after you click the link in that email.
💡 You can also sign up with Google — no password required.
If the email hasn't arrived within a few minutes, check the following:
  1. 1Your Spam / Junk folder — automated emails often end up there.
  2. 2That you entered the correct email address when registering.
  3. 3That your email address is active and can receive messages.
If you still haven't received it, you can resend the email — see the next question.
There are two ways:
  1. 1From the login page: try logging in with your email and password. If your email is not yet verified, a warning will appear with a Resend verification email button.
  2. 2From Settings: if you are logged in, go to Settings → Account where you can resend the verification email.
The Continue with Google button is available on both the Login and Register pages. Clicking it redirects you to Google for authorisation.
  1. 1Select or log into your Google account.
  2. 2If this is your first time on Console Notebook with this Google account, you will be redirected to a username setup page — choose a unique username.
  3. 3If you have signed in before with the same Google account, you will be logged in directly.
💡 Google accounts do not require email verification — they are active immediately.
Go to Settings → Security. In the Google Account section you will see:
  1. 1Connect with Google — if no Google account is linked, click this button to link your current account to Google.
  2. 2Disconnect Google — if Google is already linked, you can unlink it from this section.
⚠️ You cannot disconnect Google if it is your only sign-in method and you have not set a password. First set a password via Settings → Security → Set password.
If you have forgotten your password and cannot log in:
  1. 1On the login page, click Forgot password?
  2. 2Enter the email address associated with your account and click Send reset link.
  3. 3You will receive an email with a reset link — the link expires after a short time.
  4. 4Open the link and enter your new password (same 4 security criteria apply).
If you are logged in and want to change your current password:
  1. 1Go to Settings → Security.
  2. 2Find the Change password section.
  3. 3Enter your current password, your new password, and confirm the new password.
  4. 4Click Save changes.
💡 If your account was created exclusively with Google and you have no password, use the Set password section in the same tab.
  1. 1Go to Settings → Account.
  2. 2Click the Change email button next to your current address.
  3. 3Enter the new email address and confirm.
A verification email will be sent to the new address — it must be confirmed before the change takes effect.
  1. 1Go to Settings → Profile.
  2. 2Edit the Username field.
  3. 3Click Save changes.
The new username must be unique. Your public profile URL updates immediately.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second layer of security to your account. Even if someone knows your password, they cannot log in without the second factor.

Console Notebook offers two types of 2FA:
  1. 1TOTP (authenticator app) — generates a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds, using an app such as Google Authenticator or Authy.
  2. 2Email — the platform sends a one-time code to your email address on every login.
If both methods are active, TOTP is the primary method and email acts as a fallback.
  1. 1Go to Settings → Security.
  2. 2In the Two-Factor Authentication section, click Enable next to TOTP.
  3. 3A QR code will appear. Scan it with your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.). If you cannot scan it, enter the manual key displayed below the code.
  4. 4Enter the 6-digit code generated by the app in the confirmation field and click Confirm.
  5. 5Backup codes are generated automatically — save them somewhere safe immediately.
⚠️ If you lose access to your authenticator app and have no backup codes, you will not be able to recover your account. Save the backup codes immediately.
  1. 1Go to Settings → Security.
  2. 2In the Two-Factor Authentication section, click Enable next to Email 2FA.
From your next login, after entering your password, a verification code will be sent to your account email. The code is valid for that session only.
💡 If TOTP is also active, email becomes the fallback method — you can use it if you do not have access to your authenticator app.
Backup codes are one-time recovery codes generated automatically when you enable TOTP. Each code can be used once in place of your authenticator app code if you no longer have access to it.

How to use: at login, after entering your password, click Use backup code and enter one of your saved codes.

Regenerating: go to Settings → Security → Backup codes and click Regenerate. All previous codes are immediately invalidated.
⚠️ Store your backup codes outside the platform — in an offline document or a password manager. Do not store them in your browser or email.
When you log in with 2FA active, a Trust this device checkbox appears. If you check it, your current browser is marked as trusted — future logins from this browser will skip the 2FA step.

You can view and revoke trusted devices from Settings → Security → Trusted devices. The Revoke all button removes all trusted devices at once.
💡 Only use this option on personal devices — never on shared or public computers.
Go to Settings → Security. The Active sessions section lists all active sessions, each showing:
  1. Device type (desktop or mobile/tablet)
  2. Date and time of login
  3. A Current session label for your current session
From Settings → Security → Active sessions:
  1. 1Find the session you want to end.
  2. 2Click the Log out button next to it.
To end all other sessions at once, click Log out all other devices — your current session remains active.
💡 Clicking Log out on your current session will sign you out and redirect you to the homepage.
  1. 1Go to Settings → Account.
  2. 2Click the red Delete account button.
  3. 3A confirmation dialog appears: if your account has a password, enter it to confirm; if your account uses Google only (no password), type the word DELETE in the confirmation field.
  4. 4Click Delete account again to finalise.
⚠️ This action is permanent and irreversible. All your data — profile, collection, favourites, listings, forum posts, repair requests — will be deleted immediately and cannot be recovered.
